About Pin the Moment

A finite map of human presence

Pin the Moment is a shared world map with one simple rule:

Exactly 1,000,000 pins may ever be placed.

Each pin marks a place. A moment. A memory. A beginning. A goodbye. Or simply “I was here.”

  • There are no profiles.
  • No followers.
  • No feeds.
  • No edits once placed.

Just presence.

Why build something like this?

The internet rarely limits anything.

  • Content is infinite.
  • Storage is infinite.
  • Posting is effortless and reversible.

Pin the Moment explores a different idea:
What happens when space is limited - and permanent?

When you can place something once, and it stays.

Not a social network

This isn’t about promotion or visibility.

  • All pins follow the same map rules.
  • No one can pay to stand out more.
  • No rankings. No algorithms.

Some pins will be deeply meaningful.

Some will be simple.

Some may feel pointless.

That’s part of it.

A shared artifact

Over time, the map becomes something collective.

  • Not curated.
  • Not optimized.
  • Not owned by one voice.

Just a finite record of people choosing to mark a place in the world.

When the millionth pin is placed, the map is complete.

Who made this?

Pin the Moment was built as an independent experiment in digital presence and limitation.

  • It’s not backed by investors.
  • It’s not designed to scale forever.
  • It’s simply an idea - made public.
